The Boomsday Project – New Hearthstone expansion revealed

On July 10, Blizzard announced a new expansion for Hearthstone. A video presenting a theme for the new expansion, The Boomsday Project, appeared on Hearthstone‘s YouTube channel.

The Boomsday Project announcement trailer revealed several features coming to Hearthstone with the next update. 5 new cards were revealed (including Rogue’s new legendary spell as well as Shaman’s new legendary card). Moreover, legendary spells and a new keyword called “Magnetism” will appear in the game. “Magnetic” minions can fuse with other mechs, to combine stats and other keywords. To fuse, just play a magnetic minion to the left of the minion you want to fuse with. Also, a new Warlock hero – Mecha-Jaraxxus – will expand a custom hero collection.

The expansion revolves around a research center in Netherstorm, which is managed by Dr. Boom known from the now-retired Goblins vs. Gnomes expansion. Therefore, we can expect a return of bizarre machinery and crazy experiments. The expansion adds a total of 135 new cards. Furthermore, it seems like they have teased a new Warrior Hero portrait:

Also, two Boomsday Project bundles are now available for pre-purchase. The first bundle contains 50 card packs, a random golden legendary card from the expansion, and the Mecha-Jaraxxus card-back. The new mega bundle features 80 packs, a random golden legendary card, and the Mecha- Jaraxxus card back. Additionally, those who purchase the mega bundle will receive a new Warlock hero portrait: Mecha-Jaraxxus.

The Puzzle Lab

Hearthstone: The Boomsday Project

In The Boomsday Project’s single-player mode, The Puzzle Lab, players can earn Dr. Boom’s favor by solving over 100 different mind-boggling puzzles. Players will have to wrestle with a variety of brain-teasers that will put their wits to the test, like Lethal puzzles, which challenge them to make a match-winning play with a specific board state, or Survival puzzles, which task them to stay alive against stacked odds with scant tools at their disposal. Bright researchers who survive the gauntlet will earn a one-on-one with Dr. Boom himself, at his personal workshop.

The Boomsday Project arrives in Hearthstone on August 7. For a limited time, everyone who logs into the game after the update hits will receive 3 free Boomsday Project expansion card packs and a random class legendary minion.

A card reveal live stream will begin at 10:00 am PT on July 23 via Twitch.
